Oddly enough the pedal started working for about an hour or so, but then stopped again without warning. Under Power Management under USB, I unchecked the box next to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Reinstalled BIOS and chipset drivers from laptop manufacturer OS X certainly sees it - and lists it in the USB devices section of the System Report, as an unknown type of USB device called 'VEC Foot Pedal' - but has. Ran McAfee and Malwarebytes scan (no viruses detected) The problem, I learned, is that unlike every other USB input device in existence (keyboards, mice, trackballs, game pads, etc.), this foot pedal does not register itself an HID input device. Uninstalled USB, rebooted, reinstalled USB However, the pedals are correctly inserted to the wheel in the right place So I'm clueless how it stopped working after putting it on my desk again after having everything off the desk for a couple of days. Needless to say I am extremely frustrated and need to be using this new PC and not the 8 year-old worn out one. The pedal is showing in Devices and Printers as Unspecified: VEC USB foot pedal.

I also have a second USB foot pedal (nearly new) and it is not being detected either. When I click 'test profile' the software recognizes all of the input on the wheel and shifter, but not the pedals. It flat won't find it at all even using the USB attach function. I've reinstalled the software, downloaded similar software from different manufacturers that utilize this particular pedal and I'm encountering the same problem. I'm almost 100% sure this is not an issue with the software. Last week I took a small break, sat back down at the computer and the device is no longer being detected by the program. I think it's technically akin to a large 3 button keyboard. I think it's like more the other devices that are 'supported' (mouse,keyboard, barcode scanners.) then the non supported list.
I'm using a USB transcription foot pedal along with transcriber software. I'm not sure, but I think that the foot pedal should work with device level redirection.
